Three states (Oregon, Washington & Colorado) are voting today on the legalization and regulation of marijuana use. With approximately half the votes counted in each state it appears as if Washington and Colorado have decided "Yes" and Oregon has decided "No".
The Ballot measures for each of the three states are:
Oregon Measure 80:Legalize Marijuana
This measure would allow the commercial cultivation and sale of marijuana to adults through state-licensed stores, allows unlicensed cultivation and use of marijuana by adults, and prohibits restrictions on hemp. A "YES" vote supports the legalization of marijuana. A "NO" vote opposes the legalization of marijuana.
Washington Initiative 502:Legalize Marijuana
This measure would legalize and regulate the production, possession, and distribution of marijuana for persons age 21 and older. A "YES" vote supports marijuana legalization. A "NO" vote opposes marijuana legalization.
Colorado Amendment 64: Legalize Marijuana
This measure would amend the state constitution and legalize and regulate the production, possession, and distribution of marijuana for persons age 21 and older. A "YES" vote supports legalization of marijuana. A "NO" vote opposes legalization of marijuana.
Massachusetts has added itself to the ranks of states approving marijuana for medical use, while Arkansas had declined. This will bring the total of states with some form of legalized marijuana to 18 and the District of Columbia. Two of which will be fully legal and regulated by state government.
